Community Health Launch involves citizen input
Botetourt Community Health Steering Committee has spent over a year conducting surveys, focus groups and studying both secondary and primary data. The committee has met faithfully to pull together a plan and needs the public’s input with commentary.
“The goal is to make Botetourt County the healthiest county in Virginia,” said Kristin Adkins of the VA Dept. of Health and one of the leaders along with Dr. Stephanie Harper. There are numerous community leaders and health advocates from Botetourt County serving on the Steering Committee.
After reviewing data and prioritizing 50 health topics down to 14, now is the time for the public to review the 14 topics. Not all the topics relate to physical health, but also to well being. Citizens will help by making the choice of 3 topics. The Steering Committee will use the 3 focal points to make Botetourt’s healthier future and develop a plan of action.
