Three JRHS students won JRGS awards

These three students from James River High School were among the six winners chosen by a panel of judges in the annual Jackson River Governor’s School Science Fair. From left: Thomas Laughridge, whose project was “Does Weekly Exercise Affect Fitness Level?”; Tessa Jones, “Will Temporary Loss of Eyesight Increase Hearing Ability?” and Daniel Holter, “The Effect of Slope Aspect on Above-Ground Biomass”. A total of 21 JRGS students participated in the Science Fair, which is a culmination of weeks of study in “Research”, a course taught by Barbara Kolb, who was a science teacher at JRHS for many  years. In the course, JRGS students learn the scientific process and how to conduct an experiment.
