Chuck Pound is leaving LB basketball after 22 years
He will still be Athletic director whicch he says is more than a full-time job, but Pound has announced he is retiring from coaching. After 22 years, Pound said, ” I just don’t have the energy to devote to the team that is needed.”
Last year the girl’s won the state 3A championship, this year they made it to the state semi-finals.
Over the years, I have had great players and families. We have had some really good teams.
When David Wheat retired after two stste championships, Pound took the subsequent teams many years to Blue Ridge District Championships, regional endeavors and even to the state finals. It has been a good run.
After 35 years of teaching and now as AD, Pound continues to enjoy being at LBHS, where he has been for 32 years. He said the hardest part was telling the girls.
He has one grand child and another due this summer, so it won’t be long until he is going to their games.
In conclusion, Pound said, ” I am proud of what we have accomplished.”
