Chamber year end review includes exec director is leaving

This is a Chamber of Commerce issued on December 6, 2018:

The Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce Mission is to “offer innovative programming and networking opportunities, a strong voice for issues that affect business locally and regionally, and to be a reliable, collaborative strategic partner ensuring economic growth and prosperity for businesses in our footprint.”

In August of 2017, the Chamber Board of Directors implemented a two-year strategic plan and is on track to fulfill each set goal by June 30, 2019. The execution of this plan has resulted in the following:

  • 53% increase in revenue in first year
  • Average four new members per month
  • Increased media presence
  • Strong Board with local and regional talent
  • Development and solidification of local and regional partnerships
  • Hosting Chamber’s annual dinner within Botetourt County
  • Delivery of consistent programming with impactful topics and speakers
  • Increased attendance at all events
  • Relaunched BOCO Young Professionals
  • Development of a collaborative partnership with experience for joint young professional events
  • Implement a new user-friendly website
  • Establish new committees to enhance member benefits and connect large and small businesses to workforce development resources and professional development with business growth programming
  • Hired a full time marketing and events coordinator

As you know, the Chamber is always working in the best interest of the business community of Botetourt. On behalf of the Board, I would like to express appreciation to the membership for your involvement and ongoing attendance at committee meetings, networking events, luncheons and the various programming outreach.

The Chamber Board is grateful to Executive Director, Sheri Winesett for her efforts in laying the groundwork for many of our accomplishments over the past seventeen months.During her term, Sheri has overseen the establishment and implementation of the processes and procedures that will pay dividends for current and future membership. The Chamber is better and stronger because of her leadership and dedication to the Board and the business community of Botetourt.

Sheri will continue to represent the Chamber as its Executive Director through Friday, December 14th.The Board will be developing a search committee for her replacement at its December Board Meeting on Thursday, December 13th. Hannah Emerson plans to continue her role as Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce. Communication and programming will continue as usual during this transition and search for another Executive Director.
