Deputy Tim Wright of the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Dept has received certification in Forensic Investigations. He recently finished the nine week course in Crime Science Processing where he learned hprocessing evidence recognition and collection at the VA Academy of Forensic Science in Richmond.

Here are a few of the many topics the course covered : Life Cycle of the Blow Fly, fingerprint technology, entomology, antropology, examination of human remains, the forensic lab, low light photography, crime scene sketching and so on.

“Forensics bridges the gap between law enforcement and the Lab,” said Wright. He found the classes very interesting and will be the on call investigsater for forensic science and work with the Forenesic lab located near Northside High School.

One of the most fascinating parts of the forensic world is the collection of DNA samples. Botetourt County Sheriff’s Dept. has taken a step into highly informative evidence forensic science with having Wright trained. It will improve the ability to try and convict or exonerate those accused of crimes.

Congratulations to both the Dept. and to Wright.
