Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Dept gets donation from Aqua Virginia Water Company
Supervisor Billy Martin arrived to glad hand with the members of Aqua Virginia ( Aqua VA) water company. With them the water company execs carried a giant check for $500 made out to the Blue Ridge Volunteer FIre Dept. “It is their first donation,” said Martin. Gene Foutz, Aqua VA facility operator and Area Manager Jay Divers brought the check.
Divers said, “All of us at Aqua VA take our role as good corporate citizen very seriously. We believe in supporting the communities where we live and work. We are proud to make the contribution to the Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire Department to help these brave firefighters fulfill their critical mission to protect the communities they serve.”
Fire Chief Mike Durham accepted the real check as well as the symbolic check to help with the many programs the Blue Ridge fire fighter group deems necessary to maintain the department. That includes training and fire fighting, but he noted they did give out candy at the station on Halloween to area children. Durham was accompanied by BRVFD Lt. Joel Keister.
Durham said, “Good community relations works hand in hand with the BRVFD as well as with corporate citizens.”
