Troutville Lions entertain Mayor David Horton

Troutville Mayor David Horton was guest of the Troutville Lions Club August 13th. Horton is a retired animal control officer with the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Department. He served on the Troutville Town Council and as Vice Mayor before assuming his current position.
After dinner prepared by Greenwood Restaurant he updated club members on current town activities and projects to include upgrades to the walking trail, new flag pole, new fencing

increased parking, improved WiFi service, and new lighting. He said town council would be meeting soon on the subject of boundary change. He reported the town is in good financial position and looking forward to a Blue Star memorial marker coming in the near future.  At the conclusion of Mayor Horton’s presentation Troutville Lion President Helen Tippie thanked him for his positive update and presented him with a pint of gourmet apple butter.  Lion Treasurer Everett Hurst presented a $900 check donation to the Town of Troutville.

The Troutville Lions were chartered in 1941 and will celebrate their 80th Anniversary in 2021.  They meet on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Troutville Town Hall.  Lions clubs are men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.  The Troutville Lions are seeking new members.  For more information contact Helen Tippie at (540) 330-3863.
