New Freedom Farm hosts Veteran’s BBQ on August 11
New Freedom Farm (NFF) is hosting a BBQ and Ice Cream social for veterans and their families and also first responders on Saturday Aug. 11 from noon until 5 p.m. Lois Fritz said, ” Just show up– there is no reservation needed. We offer camaraderie to all veterans and it will be fun.”
New Freedom Farm specializes in horse therapy, with their mission being “Healing humans through horses,” especially for those who have PTSD. NFF believes strongly in the prevention of suicide among veterans. “22 Veterans per day commit suicide and that is 22 too many,” said Fritz, “New Freedom Farm is a safe and nurturing environment for veterans.”
Fritz noted her new horse, General MacArthur, an adopted wild mustang from Nevada, will be a feature of the event. “In just over three months he has gone from wild to mild,” she said.
Games, activities, interaction with horses and just enjoying the country setting will be part of the day. If a veteran needs a ride to the event, please call (540) 855-1158. To make a donation to New Freedom Farm, check out their Facebook page.
