Review: “Nice Work If You Can Get It” –at the Attic Theater
Live theater makes for fun, and Attic’s current show, Nice Work If You Can Get It, delivers lots of fun. Four beautiful chorus girls just start things. Then comes a love story at the same time as a marriage breakup – who will end up with whom? Once the vice squad fails to catch anybody as the loot gets stashed in the home of the bridegroom; you then see a senator, a police chief, the bride’s mother – and even her father – a chef who can’t cook and a butler, too – so you get a lot of mixups, Will the crooks prevail? You don’t know until the very end but you’ve been laughing so much you hardly care.
Director James Honaker manages this huge cast as they sing and dance the story away. Oh yes, the singing is great. Someone to Watch Over Me, Fascinating Rhythm, I’ve Got a Crush on You- you will recognize these oldies as they slip into the story line.
The last performance is August 11 so you need to get a reservation soon. Don’t let this incredibly well done play slip by you.
