Botetourt County Libraries Expand Service Hours Starting October 1st
After extending service hours during a trial period from May to September, Botetourt County Libraries evaluated usage levels and determined a new schedule that will go into effect on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025.
The Botetourt Bee asked Botetourt County Library Director Julie Phillips for a statement: “We had community requests for extended service hours, so we did an in-house survey for when patrons would prefer to visit branches. Based on those responses, we expanded library hours during a trial period from May through September to see if interest translated into action. Our new hours reflect actual usage patterns this summer.”
The new schedule is as follows:
Blue Ridge & Fincastle Libraries:
Mon-Thu 9 a.m. — 8 p.m.
Fri 9 a.m. — 5 p.m.
Sat 9 a.m. — 2 p.m.
Buchanan & Eagle Rock Libraries:
Mon-Fri 9 a.m. — 5 p.m.
Sat 9 a.m. — 2 p.m.
Branches may be open after regular hours on an as-needed basis for special occasions, such as community or library events.
Libraries continue to offer 24/7 access to digital resources, including ebooks, eaudiobooks, streaming video, online tutoring and job help, research databases and more, as well as public wifi at all four library locations.
The pickup/dropoff self-service satellite location at the Botetourt Family YMCA aligns with YMCA general hours, and no YMCA membership is required to use the service.
