The Buchanan Blessing Box is open

The Buchanan Blessing Box is open.
The Buchanan Blessing Box ‘BBB’ is located next to the Fire Station on Main Street, Buchanan. It is a “Little Free Pantry”, which provides nonperishable food to our residents.
The Buchanan Blessing Box was built by the Botetourt Technical Education Center and is sponsored by the Buchanan Lions Club. The Trinity Episcopal Church agreed to the location.
The Lions have approached numerous churches, other nonprofit organizations, and businesses to help supply the BBB. Community residents can also donate goods to the effort of providing items to our veterans, families, the elderly, and anyone in need.
Several groups are taking a rotating weekly responsibility to keep the BBB supplied. Any group is welcome to participate, including church groups, teen service/volunteers, businesses, non-profit organizations, and our citizens and neighbors.
Essentially, it will include breakfast, lunch, or dinner items, along with hygiene products. The basics could include pancake mix, breakfast bars, powdered milk, chili, macaroni and cheese, crackers, soups, beef stew, canned fruits, vegetables, and meats, pasta and sauces, granola bars, and many other non-perishable items. Hygiene items, such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deodorant, are also suggested donation items.
If you believe your group or business can contribute to the effort, please get in touch with Tim Heinlein, President of the Lions Club, at tim.heinlein@gmail.com.
“It’s all about giving back and paying it forward to the folks that are in need, 24/7. As Lions International states in their motto, “We Serve.” And in Buchanan, that’s what we do.”
