Bank of Botetourt Welcomes Stevens as VP – Commercial & Agricultural Loan Officer

Bank of Botetourt is pleased to announce that R. Scott Stevens has joined the Bank as Vice President – Commercial and Agricultural Loan Officer. Scott brings a wealth of industry knowledge and strong relationships throughout the agricultural community. His office will be in our Peters Creek location, and he will serve our Bank footprint and assist customers with all their financial needs.Most recently Scott was a loan officer with Farm Credit of the Virginias providing funding for agricultural related investments including but not limited to equipment, livestock, farm operating expenses, lines of credit, home mortgages, land and farm purchases covering nine counties:  Botetourt, Roanoke, Craig, Alleghany, Giles, Floyd, Montgomery, Rockbridge, and Bedford. Prior to that, he was the General Manager for Rockingham Cooperative, previously known as Southern States, where he oversaw in-store financing for more than 25 years. Ned Honts, EVP, and Chief Lending Officer for the Bank stated, “as our Bank continues to grow, we are excited about the opportunity to bring Scott on as a lender in both the commercial and agricultural sectors, and we look forward to developing the relationships that Scott will bring.”  

Scott grew up locally in the Stewartsville/Vinton area of Bedford County and graduated from Staunton River High School. He attended Virginia Tech (VT) where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Animal Science and Agriculture Economics. Scott is involved in the community and the current chair of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Leadership Council, a member of the Botetourt 4-H/FFA Alumni Association, a member of the Botetourt Cattlemen’s Association, and the Botetourt County Fair Committee. He is an active adult volunteer with Botetourt County 4-H, a board member of the Roanoke County Farm Bureau, Vice President of the VT College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni Organization, and a member of the Roanoke Valley Hokie Club. Previously, he served on the board of the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce, the VA FFA Foundation Board, and the VA Forage and Grassland Council Board.

Scott currently resides in the Fincastle area of Botetourt County with his wife, Amy who teaches Agriculture Science at Read Mountain Middle School. Together, they have three children Kate, Kaden and Genelayce. Kate, a VT grad, is teaching Agriculture Science at James River High School. Kaden is currently enrolled at VT studying Pre-Physical Therapy and Genelayce is attending Lord Botetourt High School.
