Colonial Elementary School Bee the Leader!
The Colonial Elementary Student Leadership Council visited some Blue Ridge beehives and learned leadership lessons last Thursday, Sept. 9 after school. Bees work together for the common good of the hive. By seeing the components of the hive the students were able to see how the honeybees work together to make honey, have a Queen laying eggs, bees tending the comb and eggs and worker bees out gathering pollen. A great natural science lesson as well!

Editor’s Note: Bees are a favorite of our newspaper and helped inspire us to name ourselves The Botetourt Bee. Always a reminder that Botetourt County has a bee sanctuary at Greenfield and as far as we know it is still the only county supported Honeybee sanctuary in the Commonwealth of Virginia
