Drive Thru Event at DSLCC Today Will Showcase Training Opportunities & Community Resources
Virginia Career Works – Blue Ridge and Dabney S. Lancaster Community College are partnering to put on a drive thru resource fair on Wednesday, December 9th from 12 – 2 PM. This event will be a great opportunity for community members to learn about training programs available through the community college, hear about what resources are available for supports like food, housing, and health, and connect with local businesses looking to hire new employees. Free flu shots will also be offered by the Covington Health Department. All of this will take place in the Backels Parking Lot on the campus of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge.
During the event, individuals and families will be able to safely connect with the resources without ever leaving their car. The event will allow for vehicles to drive through the parking lot and talk to organizations that meet their needs. From behind their steering wheel, visitors will be able to start the path to a new career, learn about how to get tuition assistance to cover tuition for training, get connected to assistance programs and stay healthy in one afternoon.
To ensure safety of all those in attendance, all resource providers will be masked throughout and socially distanced from one another. In addition, the organizers ask that visitors wear masks while speaking with the resource providers and stay in their vehicle throughout the event.
