November 23, 2020: A new shop is opening on Main Street in Buchanan. It is the brainchild of Anna Peterson Metheny who has been awarded a grant by the Town of Buchanan to help draw people to the area and revitalize the town. Patina Creek Creative is a collection of over 20 different artist’s work under one roof.
Everything in the shop is handmade by local creators and the items for sale range from paintings and drawing of fine art to handcrafted jewelry with a wide variety of handmade gifts for all ages and interests. This Handmade Holiday Gift Shop will be open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. throughout the winter holiday months. As one of last year’s winners of The Gauntlet Business Program & Competition, Metheny has learned how to run a business and inspire others to grow their businesses as well. The shop is more than just a must-see gem on Main Street in Buchanan.
Metheny has her own jewelry business, Patina Creek Silver, where she not only offers one-of-a-kind designs handcrafted out of silver, but is also the only artist in the nation who offers fingerprint silver jewelry where she imprints the fingerprints directly into the silver – a process she has perfected over the past few years. Metheny’s visions for the future include more collaborations, her business growing exponentially and community involvement.
A collaboration with Ribbon Me This, also a Buchanan CBL Grant recipient, has brought arts and crafts classes for children and teens to Patina Creek Creative. Sarah Boblett, crafter, artist and owner of Ribbon Me This, who hosts these weekend events, agrees that all of this will help to bring new life to the Town of Buchanan as well as new business and true revitalization.
