Help Botetourt County Historical Society on Mar 18 with Roanoke Valley Gives!
BCHS to participate in RV Gives! |
This year the Botetourt County Historical Society (BCHS) is participating for the first time in the 5th annual Roanoke Valley Gives on-line giving day for local non-profit organizations. BCHS was founded in 1966 with the mission of celebrating, preserving, promoting and educating the community on the history and culture of Botetourt County, Virginia. Roanoke Valley Gives is an initiative of Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia. The goal is to raise funding for participating Roanoke Valley nonprofits in a 24-hour period while bringing attention to the work and worth of each participating organization. All donations to the participating organization are tax-deductible. BCHS has pursued its mission through establishing and operating the Botetourt Museum, sponsoring and providing an outlet for historic publications and research, restoring artifacts, assisting in genealogical research, providing educational presentations, and conducting tours. BCHS is releasing a new history of Botetourt County later this year written by Edwin McCoy. The Museum is open to the public daily at 3 West Main street in Fincastle, from 10AM to 2PM Monday through Saturday and from 2-4 PM on Sunday. Admission is free. We are looking ahead to expanding the mission and scope of our service to the community in the next 250 years of Botetourt, but this is only through your generosity. Please consider an on-line donation on March 18, 2020. There will be an open house at the museum from 10 AM to 4 PM on 3/18/2020, where we will be glad to assist you in this endeavor. –Submitted by Ed Holt, BCHS Photo by Cathy Benson, “The Mighty James” |
