CDL Class at Dabney S Lancaster begins in January

Six CDL-A Courses Scheduled at DSLCC for 2020

                Six Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) courses have been scheduled in 2020 at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College through the Workforce Solutions and Community Education division.

The classroom/lecture portion, to prepare students to sit for the DMV Class A General Knowledge and the pre-trip inspection tests, is held on two Saturdays, from  8 am to 5 pm, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus, followed by behind-the-wheel training.

                The first course will be held January 11 and 18. Other dates are February 8 and 15; March 14 and 21; April 11 and 18; May 9 and 16; and June 13 and 20.

                After passing the two DMV tests and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, students will schedule 21 hours of one-on-one training for behind-the-wheel experience, pre-trip vehicle inspection practice, and intensive backing drills. Upon completion of the training, an instructor will accompany the student to the DMV test site for the road test. All testing is conducted in  English.

Students must obtain a DOT physical prior to any behind-the wheel training. The minimum age to obtain a CDL is 18.

The tuition fee of $2,697 covers all of the training, but most students can qualify for substantial financial aid through FastForward, a program that provides funding for select short-term workforce training for qualifying Virginia residents, while funding lasts.
