Hazardous Waste collection at Landfill is Sat. May 4 from 12:30-4:30

Botetourt County is sponsoring a Household Hazardous Waste Day on Saturday, May 4th, 2019,

From 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM

at the Solid Waste Convenience Center, 259 Landfill Road, Troutville.

NO COMMERCIAL or RESIDENTIAL WASTE WILL BE ALLOWED at this event.

(Take Catawba Road, just beyond Roanoke Cement plant, cross bridge and turn right on Landfill Road)

The following items will be accepted from Botetourt County residents:

Pesticides

Herbicides

Fertilizers

Solvents

Thinners

Corrosives

Household cleaners Pool chemicals

Oil & latex-based paints

Varnishes

Aerosol cans

Used motor oil & anti-freeze

Diesel fuel/gasoline

Batteries (dry or wet cell)

Fluorescent tubes/bulbs

Propane BBQ tanks

Mercury-containing products

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:

Medical waste

(or other sharps)     

PCB’s    

Electronics waste   

Car/truck tires Explosives/ammunition

Radioactive material    Contaminated soils    Scrap metals

Residential/woody/ commercial waste

No containers larger than 5 gallons.
