Local High school seniors learn about banking and the world of Finance at the Bank of Fincastle

Fincastle, VA 02/07/19 – The Bank of Fincastle invites local senior-year high school students to register to attend Bank Day on Tuesday, March 19th at the bank’s Daleville office.  Bank Day is a statewide effort sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA) Education Foundation and the VBA Emerging Bank Leaders. The purpose of the day is to expose students to the banking industry and provide an opportunity for the students to learn about banking, financial services and the vital role community banks play, as well as the opportunity to earn scholarships.

Six regional scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded by the VBA, and from those six winners an overall statewide winner will be chosen. The statewide winner will receive an additional $5,000 scholarship – $7,500 in total. There will also be six honorable mention scholarships of $1,000 each. In all, twelve students statewide will receive scholarships totaling $26,000.

“Last year for Bank Day we welcomed students from Lord Botetourt and had a scholarship winner among these students,” said Scott Steele, President and CEO of The Bank of Fincastle. “Each year we look forward to hosting any local high school senior who is interested in learning about the banking industry and The Bank of Fincastle.”

During their visit, the students will visit various bank departments; learn about the loan process, the importance of good credit, the profile of a qualified borrower, appropriate etiquette during a job interview, how The Bank of Fincastle is involved in the community.

To register, students may contact their guidance department, register online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/bankdaystudent19, or call Cindy Bailey, Marketing Director at The Bank of Fincastle at 473-2761.
