LOGO contest for ages k-12 for Botetourt’s 250th anniversary
LOGO DESIGN/SEAL CONTEST
BOTETOURT COUNTY’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
All students in the Botetourt County Public School System and/or those being homeschooled (K-12) are invited to enter a contest for a logo design/seal which will be used on mailings, advertisements, T-shirts, and signage for our county’s 250th anniversary celebration (Sestercentennial) beginning in January of 2020. The winner of this contest will be presented with a prize of $250 from the Bank of Fincastle as well as recognition from Botetourt County.
SPECIFICS FOR THE LOGO CONTEST
- All entries must be from a student (K-12) in one of the public schools in Botetourt County or in a Botetourt County homeschool program.
- All entries must be on a white sheet of 8 ½” X 11” paper, drawn either in black and white or no more than three colors.
- The student’s name, age, telephone number, school name, and name of parent/guardian must be on the back of the entry as well as the signature of the teacher or principal. The entry logo designs will not be returned.
- All entries must be returned to the school principal by 9:00 a.m. on February 18, 2019. Homeschooled students should mail their entries to the following address by
February 14, 2019:

- A committee will judge the entries and a winner will be selected and notified by
March 6, 2019. The logo design will become the property of Botetourt County.
HELPFUL INFORMATION
Botetourt County was chartered in January of 1770 from part of Augusta County and was named for Norborne Berkeley, known as Lord Botetourt, who served as a popular governor of the Virginia Colony from 1768-1770. When it was first established, the county extended from its gateway at the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley to the Mississippi River, and it covered all or parts of seven present-day state
The county seat is Fincastle. The Blue Ridge Mountains run along the eastern part of the county, while the Appalachian Mountains run along the western portion. The James River originates in Botetourt County near the village of Iron Gate.
Entrants are encouraged to view reference sites for more information and examples of logo designs/seals. The years 1770-2020 must be used somewhere on the logo design/seal.
