Supervisors honored Jack Leffel

Mac Scothorn read the proclamation for Jack Leffel.

Jack Leffel was one of the few people to serve as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors as well as the School Board. He was a champion of education, the students and citizens of this county and agriculture.

On Tuesday Jan. 23 his family was awarded a proclamation read by Valley Supervisor Mac Scothorn honoring Leffel for his contributions. The Supervisors split the gavel Leffel used, in half and prepared a shadow box and a photo of the Fincastle Supervisor. Jack Leffel passed away in December 2018. (We had a story  )

The other half of the gavel will be kept on display at the Supervisor’s room at GTEC where monthly meetings are held.

The Leffel family, Mary Lynne, Anna and Beth and his two son-in-laws were on hand for the occassion.
