Dale and Gloria Carter remembered well

The younger Carters Dale, Rebecca and Jimmy with the National Historic Register plaque at The Buchanan Theatre.

Gloria and Dale Carter lovingly purchased and restored the Buchanan Theatre. Later they sold it back to Standing Room Only and gave the proceeds for upkeep. Both have since died, Dale last, within the past couple of months. A memorial service was held in their memory on January 5, 2019. Their two sons Dale and his wife Rebecca and Jimmy were on hand. Over 40 people attended the service. Harry Gleason, Town Improvement manager for the town and Sharon Coleman of Standing Room Only, spoke to the generosity and community spirit Dale and Gloria Carter possessed. Many community members spoke as well.

The wonderful news of the day. The original building built in 1913 called The Star Theatre has been named to the National Historic Register and a plaque bearing the names of Dale and Gloria Carter and the designation was unveiled by the Carter family.

After the service, the first movie played at the renovated theatre in 2002, The Majestic was shown to attendees.
