Into the great wild with Ben Shrader
Ben Shrader is an area naturalist and wildlife expert. He maintains the cameras at Claytor Nature Center and elsewhere. A retired engineer, he has great knowledge of Virginia Wildlife
He said the following:
“Not a typical year for maintaining Trail Cameras. Rain kept us dodging getting some flooded, plus being beset with internet connection problems and no operating base station computer for some time now. What we have gotten though, otters and the common deer, raccoons, etc. Seeming few this year are coyotes, foxes and bobcats.#129 otter, note the height of the water in Big Otter River#235 Coyote looking to see were the deer just went #236 Gray foxes sniffing the coyote, they often are paired # 64 Seems bobcat photos have been scarce in recent years# 272 Every deer has to be somewhere even when it snows.”
Enjoy! From time to time we will post area wildlife photos.
