Engineering students at BTEC ‘s Gaming Marathon helped Carilion Children’s hospital
On Saturday, November 3rd, CST, IST and Engineering students from BTEC (Botetourt Technical Education Center) participated in a Video Game Marathon to raise money for the Carilion Children’s Hospital. Twenty one students, lead by Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Shaffer, donated their time and money and raised over $550 through the charity Extra-Life.org. Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $40 million for sick and injured kids. After fierce battles over treacherous mountains, through dangerous forests, and across alien worlds, Caleb Shaver, Joshua Barnett and Benji Peters were crowned tournament champions. Extra recognition was also give to Mason Spillman, Aaron Vest and Sidney Morris who were the top donors to this very worth while cause.
