Fairy Ring
Due to the recent warm, wet weather you may notice more Fairy Rings of Mushrooms around Botetourt County. Defined as “A fairy ring, also known as fairy circle, elf circle, elf ring or pixie ring, is a naturally occurring ring or arc of mushrooms. They are found mainly in forested areas, but also appear in grasslands or rangelands. Fairy rings are detectable by sporocarps in rings or arcs.” (Source Fairy Rings on the web.)
Legend has that you should never walk or sit in the Fairy Ring as to not anger the supernatural beings responsible for them!
This one is located on Haymakertown Rd.
