DSLCC Computer Class begins tonight and another August 14
Two computer courses for beginners have been scheduled in August by the Dabney S. Lancaster Community College Workforce Solutions and Community Education Division in two locations. Ed Mays is the instructor.
Microsoft Outlook 2016 is a one-night workshop to help participants learn about the many features of the Microsoft Office 2016 email software program. It will be held on Tuesday, August 7, from 6 to 8:30 pm in Room 504, McCarthy Hall, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus. Another will be held on Tuesday, August 14, also from 6 to 8:30 pm in Room 907, at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista.
The workshop will cover topics including: navigating in Outlook; setting email options; the ribbon interface; sending messages, responding to messages, and attaching files; and creating contacts, distribution lists, reminders, and tasks. The tuition fee is $35, and no textbook is required.
Introduction to Computers 1 is a continuation of the beginner course or for anyone with minimal computer experience. Keyboarding skills are helpful. The class will meet on Mondays, August 20 through September 7 in Room 504, McCarthy Hall, on the Clifton Forge campus from 6 to 8:30 pm, and also on Wednesdays, August 22 through September 5 from 6 to 8:30 pm at the DSLCC Rockbridge Regional Center in Buena Vista.
The tuition fee is $65; the accompanying textbook, Welcome to Microsoft Office 2016, may be purchased through the DSLCC bookstore by calling (540) 862-4322. Students should also bring a flash drive to class.
